Why has my review disappeared from the site?
Show-Score is all about helping theater fans decide what to see. We invite members to write reviews of shows they've seen so that other members can figure out if it is the right show for them. That's why we ask our members not just to give it a score, but also to explain why someone should “see it” or “don’t see it”.
We believe that there's a show for everyone and an audience for every show. That's why we’re asking these two key questions: “even if you didn't like it, who would?” Or, conversely, “even if you loved it, for whom would it not be a fit?”
This is the philosophy that informs our community guidelines.
When a member writes a review, we publish it immediately. This is unusual, since most sites moderate user comments before they go live. We trust our members, and want to give them the satisfaction of seeing their opinions published immediately.
At the same time, we make it easy for members to report reviews they believe do not meet our guidelines, by clicking the “Is this a shill, attack or incomplete review? Report it please!” link below every review. You can learn more about this here.
Any Show-Score member can flag a review, and once they do, it is immediately removed from the site for internal review. Our team then checks the review against our community guidelines to see if the abuse report was justified. This process is usually completed within 24-48 hours. The decision as to whether a review meets our guidelines is made at our sole discretion, and all decisions are final.
If we find the review was flagged incorrectly, it will be reinstated, and it will be unable to be flagged in the future.
If the review doesn’t meet our community guidelines, but can be fixed with an edit, we’ll email the member to request an edit of their flagged review.
We never ask someone to change a score, or his or her opinion about the show. Our focus is on making sure that opinion is honest, clearly stated, and useful to anyone who is thinking about attending that show. We always ask them the same two questions: even if you loved the show, who wouldn't like it? And even if you didn't like it, who would?
If a review is edited to meet our guidelines, it will be added back to the site, and will be unable to be flagged in the future.
If you have any further questions about this process, or about your specific review, please don't hesitate to reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
